Backup File Types

So, you have a backup file, but you need to know what type of backup it is so you can know what is saved inside.

Here we show you how to tell by simply looking at the file name.

backup-5.18.2011_18-46-23_cpaneluser.tar.gz

This is the format of a Full Backup file. It includes all your domains' content (including addon and subdomains), emails, and databases.

backup-domain.com-5-18-2011.tar.gz

This is the format of a Home Directory Backup file. It only includes all your domains' content (including addon and subdomains).

name.sql.gz

This is the format of a MySQL Backup file. It only includes the data of a single database.

aliases-domain.com.gz

This is the format of a Email Forwarders backup file. It only includes the forwarders you created in this cPanel.

filter-domain.com.gz

This is the format of a Email Filters backup file. It only includes the filters you created in this cPanel.
